Benchmarking for the Web Community Group created

The Benchmarking for the Web Community Group has been launched:
  http://www.w3.org/community/benchweb/

--------------------------------------------------

As web "applications" become more complex, it is felt that not only
conformance but also performance of software is at issue. This is
especially true for those on embedded systems such as mobile terminals.
This CG will discuss how to assess performance characteristics of web
browsers and web applications and how to provide a method of comparing
the performance of various subsystems across different web systems. The
group will deliver guidelines on these issues.
