Permanent Identifier Community Group created

W3C has launched the Permanent Identifier Community Group:
  http://www.w3.org/community/perma-id/

--------------------------------------------------

The Permanent Identifier Community Group is responsible for shepherding
the community-run https://w3id.org/ website and services associated with
the website. The goal of w3id.org is to provide a permanent URL
re-direction service for Web applications. These types of URLs are
important for Linked Data applications, Vocabulary development, and
other sorts of applications that need to utilize long-lived identifiers
on the Web.

At the core of the community is a loose association of organizations
including Digital Bazaar, 3 Round Stones, OpenLink Software, Applied
Testing and Technology, and W3C, that have an agreement in place taking
responsibility for co-manage the website and services. The agreement is
setup such that various organizations can fail, lose interest, or be
unavailable for long periods of time without impacting the overall
operation and maintenance of the website.

--------------------------------------------------

In order to join the group, you will need a W3C Account. To request one:

If you believe that there is an issue with this group that requires
the attention of the W3C staff, please send us email on
site-comments@w3.org

Thank you,
W3C Community Development Team
