Hi, As some of you may know, I'm organizing a virtual workshop on the role of Web browsers in the Machine Learning ecosystem: https://www.w3.org/2020/06/machine-learning-workshop/ We released a number of expert presentations a couple of weeks ago to stimulate discussions: https://www.w3.org/2020/06/machine-learning-workshop/presentations.html One of the presentations revisits a topic our group heard on back in January: https://www.w3.org/2020/06/machine-learning-workshop/talks/enabling_distributed_dnns_for_the_mobile_web_over_cloud_edge_and_end_devices.html (cf https://www.w3.org/2020/01/15-web-networks-minutes.html#item03) This had led to discussion on the role of client/edge/cloud in ML: https://github.com/w3c/machine-learning-workshop/issues/83 which naturally intersects with our ongoing exploration around the role of edge computing. The impact of memory management (in particular memory copies) when transmitting media over the network is also alluded to in https://github.com/w3c/machine-learning-workshop/issues/93 I invite you all to watch the presentations and take part in the github issue discussions as you see fit. If you are interested in joining the live sessions of the workshop later this month, please get in touch. Regards, Dom
