Mobile Acid Test

   [10]http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-mwts/2008Apr/0006.htm
   l Wilhelm's responses to Kai

     [10] http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-mwts/2008Apr/0006.html

<scribe> ACTION: Dom to look into a gzip test [recorded in
   [11]http://www.w3.org/2008/04/08-mwts-minutes.html#action02]

Dom: Kai Hendry from Aplix is on the call today to discuss the
feedback he sent on mobile acid test

Kai: I'm hoping this test can help bring a better Web experience to
   the mobile

Dom: First, let's agree on the new name for the test

... Wilhelm proposed "Web Compatibility Test for Mobile Browsers"

<scribe> ACTION: Wilhelm to propose names for the mobile ACID test
   [recorded in
   [12]http://www.w3.org/2008/04/01-mwts-minutes.html#action04] [DONE]

     [12] http://www.w3.org/2008/04/01-mwts-minutes.html#action04

Dmitri: shouldn't it be "compliance" rather than "compatibility"

Dom: the tests are too simple to test for compliance; "Web
compatibility" just means the user agent has support for important
   Web technologies

RESOLUTION: the mobile acid test is renamed "Web Compatibility Test
   for Mobile Browsers"

<scribe> ACTION: Dom to retitle the test and related documents
   [recorded in
   [13]http://www.w3.org/2008/04/08-mwts-minutes.html#action01]

   [14]Kai's feedback

     [14] http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-mwts/2008Apr/0005.html

Kai: [presenting the feedback he sent by email]
... the iPhone really set a baseline for the Web on mobile, would
probably be worth having it pass the test

Wilhelm: we want something a bit more forward looking, something
that browser vendors can target for a year or two from now

Dom: maybe we could also work on a less difficult test? a baseline
for today Web? in any case, think we should continue on the current
   test as is for now

Kai: don't think SVG is so important, but can live with it

Dom: note that SVG will be included in next iPhone release

Kai: think that more tests for Javascript support would be useful
... will try to submit a test, and have asked for ideas around (e.g.
   to the open ajax alliance)

   Dom: sounds good, thx!
... Suggestion for a gzip-compression test sounds interesting too,
   I'll look into it

Wilhelm: I'm ok with removing the data: URI test, probably not so
   important indeed
... I'm still working on improving the compatibility, hopefully will
   be done tonight

<scribe> ACTION: Wilhelm to make sure that mobile acid test works
reliably on most browsers [recorded in
   [15]http://www.w3.org/2008/03/11-mwts-minutes.html#action05]
   [PENDING]

     [15] http://www.w3.org/2008/03/11-mwts-minutes.html#action05

<scribe> ACTION: Dom to add a graphical map of the mobile acid test
   [recorded in
   [16]http://www.w3.org/2008/04/01-mwts-minutes.html#action07] [DONE]

     [16] http://www.w3.org/2008/04/01-mwts-minutes.html#action07

<scribe> ACTION: Carmelo to send input on mobile acid test [recorded
   in [17]http://www.w3.org/2008/01/22-mwts-minutes.html#action06]
   [PENDING]

     [17] http://www.w3.org/2008/01/22-mwts-minutes.html#action06

Dom: so, if all goes as planned, we should be ready to announce (for
   good!) next week
... I plan to blog about it, announce it to mailing lists
... will try to get announced on the W3C home page as well
... We should let the WaSP now too

Kai: you should let the Open Ajax Alliance know as well

Wilhelm: FWIW, I've sent a mail to Ian Hickson about our ongoing
   work this morning
