With MusicXML, is there any way of ensuring that the names of drum instruments will be displayed in area to the left of the first bar of a row?

In our programs, we happen to display the names of various drum 
instruments in the area before the first bar of each row of notation.  
We have two staves and the lower one contains percussion instruments, 
and we display the instrument names to the left of the first bar in each 
row and the vertical position of each name corresponds to the line or 
space in which the notes will appear for the instrument.  Here's an 
example of what it looks like: (hopefully it shows up)

Is there a way to do this with MusicXML so that other programs will 
display the instrument names to the left like we do?  We save the 
instrument names to the XML file, but when loading in the XML file into 
other software programs, then other programs don't display the names of 
the drum instruments like this.
