Re: MusicXML's 20th anniversary

Thanks to everyone for the kind words! One of the great things about anniversaries is stepping back and looking at how far we have come. It has been a wonderful community effort that keeps on going.

In terms of goals, my immediate focus is naturally on the first two points in this list: the MusicXML 4.0 launch and ongoing MNX development. In my role at MakeMusic I also work on number 4 in our web-based SmartMusic application. But I think Myke had more generally available tools in mind for that.

Once MusicXML 4.0 is released it might be a good time to give some more thought to longer range goals, beyond continuous improvement of score exchange quality.

Best regards,

I’m part of the problem here too: when I figured out how MusicXML worked, I put it into my software, but haven’t done enough to help others more easily integrate it into their own applications. Kudos for Michael for great improvements here in the last 10 years.
