Re: MusicXML's 20th anniversary

Huge Congrats to Michael and the entire MusicXML community for this great milestone.  (And fantastic to read the v.0.1 poster for the first time).   What an incredible past 10 years and 20 years in total!

Would love to hear about goals for the next ten years.  Off the top of my head these would be mine:

1.  A successful and inspiring launch of version 4.0
2.  Continued development in parallel with MNX to make it seamless to move between the two formats.
3.  Reintegration of communities that have left MusicXML (esp. the musicological community)
4.  Further development of lightweight but powerful tools for MusicXML reading/writing in Javascript and mobile devices
5.  Rapid decline in the use of MIDI for tools that would work better with MusicXML — it’s been happening for 20 years, but there are still some more bumps in the curve to overcome.
6.  More community-created tutorials, examples of difficult cases, and testing tools.  I’m part of the problem here too: when I figured out how MusicXML worked, I put it into my software, but haven’t done enough to help others more easily integrate it into their own applications.  Kudos for Michael for great improvements here in the last 10 years.
7.  Expansion of the MusicXML community of users especially so that it represents the diversity of the world’s music communities.  Reaching out and welcoming and mentoring people with different backgrounds, making W3C Music Notation even more inclusive.
