James, the community group's charter is clear, and the co-chairs are not looking to shift the focus of the community group onto your SVG-based proposal. I am disappointed to see you bringing this up again after having agreed earlier this year that your own efforts and the group's were not aligned. That is still the case. If you don't support the approach that is set out by the group's current charter, then please withdraw from the group rather than trying to shift its focus. Bob is right that progress on MNX is much slower than we would like, and we don't want to spend the available time and energy rehashing your issues when we already have the skeleton of a specification for a workable successor format to MusicXML that addresses the use cases the group has identified as important. I also think this forum is too important to let it fade away. @Daniel: Thanks for the prompt reply to Bob. Good news on SMuFL! :-) But I think MNX has turned out to be both unnecessary and too complicated, so can't see myself continuing to discuss it in 2019. My own feeling is that the CG should continue to be the place where MusicXML revisions (if any) are discussed, but that it should move on from MNX to a more web-centred discussion. That means looking to see how standards for music notation can be built on top of existing web standards (SVG, Web MIDI, Web Audio etc.). For example, we could begin by defining a set of class names for SVG elements, so that SVG scores can be used interoperatively... There is still some work going on behind the scenes, and we will have some more concrete news before NAMM. At the moment our immediate term goal is to publish a community report for the current version of SMuFL, which we aim to do before the end of the year, and we are looking to get things moving again on MNX as we start 2019. Michael, Joe, Daniel... anyone? What happened? I would like us not to give up on this effort. How can I refuel our energy? We look forward to this event each year as we usually have 40 to 50 music notation experts participating in the discussions. This year's meeting will be Thursday, 12 April 2018 from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm in the Symmetrie 3 meeting room in Hall 8.1. Note that this is a different date and location than past Musikmesse meetings. Musikmesse was not able to provide us with a meeting room on Friday, so we needed to move the meeting to Thursday instead. We hope that we can maintain the same level of attendance and participation on this new date. As in past years, we will have a 2-hour meeting followed by a 1-hour reception. This year's reception will be sponsored by MuseScore. We will be following up soon with more details about the meeting agenda. We wanted to get the notification of the confirmed date and time out to everyone as soon as possible, especially given the difference from our previous meetings. You will need a Musikmesse trade visitor ticket to attend the meeting. These cost 30 euros and are available online at˙www.musikmesse.com. We look forward to seeing you in Frankfurt!
