Asian event symbols

Hi Rafael, all,

Is there any way to categorize the event symbols used in Asian notations?
For example, do some notations use a single character (like a neume) for 
an event symbol, while others use composite graphics (as in CMN chord 
symbols)?

If and when the symbols are composite, is there some general way to 
describe the components?

If the components are different for different Asian notations, maybe you 
could answer the question for Okinawan notation?
