Re: Meeting at Music Encoding Conference 2016, this Friday?

Hi Jim and others,

As one of the Notation CG co-chairs, I had been planning to attend the
entirety of MEC, both to make more connections within the MEI community and
also to try and instigate an unconference track relating to the work of the
CG.

Unfortunately, I came down early this week with a respiratory infection
that put me completely out of commission, and I have had to cancel my plans
to go to Montreal. I'm just now surfacing to the point of catching up with
a bit of email and I'm still not really back in the saddle.

This is a terribly disappointing turn of events to me. It obviously
prevents the sort of personal communication that I feel would be most
valuable to advance our work. But I would encourage anyone at MEC who wants
to do so, please go ahead and have a discussion about the W3C Notation
initiative anyway (and hopefully capture and share the discussion!). I am
in touch with the MEC conference chair Andrew Hankinson and hope to follow
up after MEC with anyone who's interested in further dialogue.

Best,

. . . . . ...Joe
