Customisable options within custom <select> style menu

Hi, 

I've been looking for an accessible design pattern that can be used to create a visually customisable set of options within a <select> style menu.

The widget has to work with Mobile + Desktop (with system AT's switched on).

If anyone knows of such a pattern, please let me know.
