Dear Organizers, My name is Sarmad Hussain. I am a professor of Computer Science and am currently heading Center for Language Engineering at Al-Khawarizmi Institute of Computer Science (www.kics.edu.pk) at University of Engineering and Technology (www.uet.edu.pk) in Pakistan. I have had a keen research interest in computing support for languages in developing Asia, and especially for Pakistani languages. My work has included multiple projects at Center for Research in Urdu Language computing at CRULP during the past decade (see www.crulp.org for details) for Pakistan and PAN Localization project across developing Asian region (see www.PANL10n.net) for past seven years, and have authored multiple papers and books on related subjects, e.g., a recent one on Internationalized Domain Names (available at http://www.panl10n.net/english/outputChart.htm). My work and interests cover many of the topics listed for the workshop, including language computing standards and localization, language processing, speech processing and script processing. The goals of the workshop organized by W3C are very relevant for the work we are doing, and hope to learn and contribute the status and challenges of multi-lingual web at the workshop. Regards, Sarmad Hussain
