This feature should not block the getUserMedia v1 from progressing along the W3C Rec Track. There are mechanisms in place to allow this work to happen independently. For example, we could adopt the extension specification model [2] used by the HTML WG. > It seems like it would be more of an extension or addition to the Media Capture and Streams API. In fact D only cameras are simply sending the equivalent of a greyscale video track so "may" not really require any change at all. > > But I'll get feedback and input from people interested and then make a proposal based on that. It’d be great if you could share the feedback with the group. > If anyone is interested in this they can contact me off the list. Ningxin who just joined the DAP WG and this Task Force (welcome!) is an expert with depth cameras. He is also a Chromium committer and will be experimenting with this feature in code. I’ll let Ningxin introduce the work he’s doing. I’m happy to see more interest in support of this feature. Let’s work together to flesh out a proposal. > And I definitely wasn't suggesting it should impact version 1 in any way Harald 8) +1 Thanks, -Anssi [1] http://www.w3.org/2013/11/14-mediacap-minutes.html [2] http://www.w3.org/html/wg/wiki/ExtensionSpecifications
