dear all, I am Frank Nack [1], assistant professor at the Human-Computer Studies Laboratory (HCS) [2], University of Amsterdam. My background is in artificial intelligence with a special interest in, among others, the representation, retrieval and reuse of media in mobile systems; computational applications of media theory & semiotics; and automated video editing. I was involved in the MPEG-7 standard, where I served as the editor of the Context and Objectives Document and the Requirements Document, and chaired the MPEG-7 DDL development group. I have not yet had any experiences with w3c. My core work always aimed at modeling core sets of metadata so that creative work processes can be supported. In that context Lynda Hardman, Zeljko Obrenovic, and I edited in Multimedia Systems journal a special issue on canonical processes of semantically annotated media production [3]. Thus, the most interesting work direction in this working group for me is to work towards a 'media dublin core'. I look very much forward to working with all of you.
