Hi, I am participating to this mailing list as a member of the Advene (Annotate Digital Video, Exchange on the NEt) project [1], together with Olivier Aubert and Yannick PriƩ, who have also subscribed to this list. The Advene project has been running since 2003 at the University Claude Bernard in Lyon (France). The goal is to provide an annotation model and application for audiovisual documents. It has led to the (ongoing) development of an open-source prototype. Since practices related to digital audiovisual documents are still in their infancy, the annotation model of Advene has been deliberately kept simple, extensible and sharable, so as to foster the emergence of new practices. We rely on the feedback of users from different fields for the evolution of the model and the prototype. We are currently involved in the ANR-funded Cinelab project, in collaboration with the IRI (Centre Georges Pompidou). One of the goals of this project is to provide a shared vocabulary for cinematographic analysis, stemming from movie critics practices. We think that the Advene model has proven an interesting minimal ground for audiovisual annotation, and that the prototype (which is open source and cross-platform) could be useful to people in this list for experimenting with use cases. regards Pierre-Antoine Champin Olivier Aubert Yannick PriƩ [1] http://advene.org/
