Dear colleagues, As announced a few weeks ago, please find enclosed some information on our work on a Media Value Chain Ontology. As it was also mentioned before, the ISO/IEC MPEG Committee (ISO/IEC JTC1/SC29/WG11) has started a new part of MPEG-21, Part 19, on a Media Value Chain Ontology (MVCO), that is currently out for CD ballot. If things run smoothly, as expected, the Final Committee Draft (FCD) will be produced in the next MPEG meeting at the beginning of February. The document we are attaching, mainly written by Víctor Rodríguez, shows the main concepts and details of the MVCO, in which we have been working since several years. The purpose of distributing this information to the Media Annotations WG is twofold. First, to keep you informed about related work and, second, to raise the issue that going into details about Intellectual Property concepts and roles is probably not needed in this WG, since it could be enough just to link to the MVCO when needed, taking advantage of the fact that MVCO will be an easily referable stable International Standard. You could discuss this further with Víctor in the F2F meeting in a few weeks. Regards, Jaime.
