Agenda: 1. Announcements/updates NS: The charter is making progress. The charter will likely be going out for a vote next week. Voting might end around the second week of March. NS: Asked people to vote for the charter if they can vote. If we know someone who can vote we should encourage them to vote for the charter. NS: Went around the group to see who could vote for the charter. 2. What's missing from Level 1? level 1 functionality <https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Fspreadsheets%2Fd%2F1EsWou1K5nxBdLPvQapdoA9h-s8lg_qjn8fJH64g9izQ%2Fedit%23gid%3D0&data=04%7C01%7C%7C1eb8653f0a49421b093008d8c80dcd4e%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C637479308899057288%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=CDRHYjfGCuv58%2BFRW%2F%2Bjav42xT80TX1k1xTBkrpU9bg%3D&reserved=0> NS: Was using Clear Speak to test the pronunciation of MathML symbols. NS: Showed a slide of possible problems. DG: The scope of level one is not precisely defined. NS: The chemistry shown in DG’s level two should be in Level one. MS: Instead of saying to the nth power, he would say to the nth. This should help with translation to other languages. NS: Another missing thing is an ordered pair for coordinates. BM: What are we trying to standardize. We are not trying to standardize speech. We want to give the user agent freedom to pronounce things optimally. MS: He prefers to pronounce what is there more than what it means. It would be nice to have both. Perhaps saying what is there or what it means could b e toggled by a hot key. NS: Perhaps people could have the choice of saying what is there, or what it means. Hopefully Intent could provide both options. NS: It would be easier to provide both speech options if Math Intent would give the needed information. SD: He would like to see the primitives from MathML be presented in Level one. MSC: Does it matter what is level one, or Level two or Level three? NS: Everyone has to understand what is in level one. They may not have to understand what is in level three. BM: Even if you do not know what a thing is, you need to know how to pronounce it. DC: If you have a plus sign, everyone knows what it is. What does it mean to have a vertical bar? Presentations can be ambiguous. NS: People will understand what things mean by the context of the document which holds the equation. NS: If a system understands intent, then it should understand the symbols in level one. BM: If you do not worry about semantics, then you can simply read the presentation math and interpret it yourself. What is the minimal amount needed to pronounce the equations understandably. DG: Is interested in level three. You may need intent to understand level three. Level one is for things that people commonly agree upon. He wants to use a couple of text books to see if we have all that is necessary in level one. DF: We should not leave out any high school mathematics from Level one. NS: If we know what an entity is, we can pronounce it more clearly. NS: Level one should cover K through 14th grade. SD: Content mathML is not set up well for geometry. BM: If you can say something correctly, then it does not matter what level the symbol is in. NS: Level one should be the set of characters that everyone should care about. DC: You do not have to understand high level math, you just need to say what is there. BM and DG will talk next week. 3. Start discussion: what's the intent of 'intent'... <https://www.avast.com/sig-email?utm_medium=email&utm_source=link&utm_campaign=sig-email&utm_content=webmail&utm_term=icon> Virus-free. www.avast.com <https://www.avast.com/sig-email?utm_medium=email&utm_source=link&utm_campaign=sig-email&utm_content=webmail&utm_term=link> <#DAB4FAD8-2DD7-40BB-A1B8-4E2AA1F9FDF2>
