It would be worth reviewing the email Andrew has sent to the AG list about how we interpret links and buttons with non text contrast.

We are in danger of making a broad requirement that makes things worse in a significant proportion of cases.

Agree with Jon's assessments.

Row 1 would actually be my overall preference, except for that 5th button from the left, which could for blend in with my dark background if viewed as a stand-alone button. The button in the same position (5th from left) in Row 4 would be better.

Hi Alastair, the darker text on the background for row # 2 is worse for me in regards to reading the text. Finding the button boundaries are not an issue for me with any of your examples. #4 is my preference but is not necessary. The text contrast is far more important for me.

Hi everyone,

The attached doc is a (public) comment on non-text contrast and buttons.

It’s a useful format as they’ve shown some examples.

We’ll have to deal with it pretty rapidly, I’m interested though if you could look at the last section with the 4 rows of buttons and say:

     *   Is the 1st row noticeably poor contrast for the buttons? I.e. would it be hard to find/discern them?
     *   Are rows 2-4 better? If so, which is best?

The first bullet of non-text contrast is proving to be the most difficult, whereas I had thought it would be the second bullet!
