[Apologies for cross-posting] Linked Data in Media and Cultural Applications National University of Ireland, Galway Royal Irish Academy, Dublin The National University of Ireland, Galway and the Royal Irish Academy are seeking applications from suitably qualified candidates for a postdoctoral research position in the Linked Data Web domain. This is a full time position. The successful candidate will be employed by NUI Galway (0.5 FTE) and the Digital Repository of Ireland RIA (0.5 FTE). This position will be based in both INSIGHT @ NUIGalway (previously the Digital Enterprise Research Institute (DERI)) and the Digital Repository of Ireland at the Royal Irish Academy in Dublin. The contract period will end on 31 August 2015. The successful candidate will conduct research in the application of Linked Data for large scale Media and Cultural applications. This position provides unique opportunities and is simultaneously located at one of the most internationally recognised Semantic Web/Linked Data research environments and the Digital Repository of Ireland, a key national aggregator of cultural and social data. As such the position provides the successful applicant the opportunity to be located at both institutions. The candidate is expected to conduct research in the foundations and application of Linked Data and Semantic Web technologies, to collaborate with key national broadcasting organisations and cultural institutions, to initiate and support the collaboration between the Semantic Web and Linked Data research groups in INSIGHT and the DRI and support the institute directorship and group lead with administrative tasks. Applicants will be expected to possess: ● Evidence of research experience (PhD or equivalent) in the Linked Data and Semantic Web area. ● Motivation to make a difference in a dynamic environment. ● Technical experience and skills to transfer ideas into reality. ● Excellent interpersonal communication and scientific writing skills. ● Experience in managing key stakeholder relationships in a highly professional manner.
