Dear all, I am very aware that it is many months since the Locations and Addressed Community group was formed, since when the amount of activity here has been close to zero. That's because we've been working to get the right chairs in place. I am delighted to say that this has now happened and that we're ready to go. The CG will be co-chaired by Michael Lutz and Andrea Perego of the European Commission's Digital Earth and Reference Data Unit [1]. That's a mouthful but it means that Michael, Andrea and their colleagues are the people responsible for developing the INSPIRE Guidelines. For non-Europeans, that's a set of guidelines/standards for representing geospatial and environmental data that Member States are legally obliged to use. Between now and Christmas, Michael and Andrea will prepare some materials on the group's wiki designed to survey the current standards in use and attitudes towards them. That will be in important starting point for the group. So... thank you for you patience, expect to see this mailing list get into swing with a few messages in the coming weeks and a lot more in the new year.
