RE: BL investigating linked data for catalogue?

Yes, we are involved in the Open Bibliography Project, but we are also
talking to JISC about offering British Library data for experimentation
(e.g. scalability of triple stores) and linking.

We are continuing to develop the formats adopted in consultation with
researchers - e.g. we hope to be putting up an updated DC sample using
an enhanced DC Terms structure shortly - and also offer a version with
embedded URIs to LCSH/DDC & the RDF book mashup later in the autumn.

For further information on what we are doing I can recommend looking at
the presentation given by my colleague Neil Wilson at the recent Talis
day on Linked Data and Libraries:

ta-and-libraries-2010.

Subject: BL investigating linked data for catalogue?

Not sure if this is news or not, but I hadn't picked up on it before

http://www.bl.uk/bibliographic/datafree.html

At the moment they seem to have concrete plans to offer Bibliographic
data as RDF/DC (everything literals by the look of it), under CC-NC-SA
3.0, but they also note they are "investigating options for structuring
its catalogue information as linked data
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linked_Data> and is collaborating with a
number of organisations in examining the issues associated with making
bibliographic metadata available in this way." (I wonder if this is a
reference to current JISC projects such as LOCAH -
http://blogs.ukoln.ac.uk/locah/ and the Open Bibliography Project -
http://code.google.com/p/jiscexpo/wiki/jiscopenbib ?)
