I don't know that HTTP itself provides much in the way of guarantees here; and the answer might vary based on things you left unspecified like cache controls (if the GETter doesn't demand a fresh copy, a cache could return data that from the outside we'd call stale). PATCH requires that intermediate results *of the patch request* are not observable, I was reading 5789 today. I re-skimmed 7231 and did a few searches on likely keywords (incl Must Not) w/o finding anything clearly addressing your question.
