that's what i pointed out a while ago, saying that LDP-DM essentially
exists in the form of atom/atompub (and the atom landscape
http://dret.typepad.com/dretblog/atom-landscape.html  providing additional
capabilities in that space), and we wouldn't have to reinvent the wheel
and could simply use existing established standards. the feedback was that
people disliked the idea of using something that is not RDF at heart, and
thus reusing atom/atompub would not be a possibility.
