Using Gitter

Hi all,

There have been some frustrations with using IRC for IM because it requires
everyone to stay connected all the time to be able to communicate
asynchronously (which is important since we are globally distributed).

I have created a Gitter community for us to try this as an additional
channel. If it works out to be better than using IRC we may deprecate the
IRC channel in time.
