このドキュメントの目的，誰に対するものか等がはっきりしないのですが，気がついた事項についてコメントしておきます．

基準値の示し方が不統一でないか．Widthは，最大値のようだが，Line spacing (leading)は最適値なようだ． 

>For the visual presentation of blocks of text, a mechanism is available to 
>achieve the following:

>- Foreground and background colors can be selected by the user.
>- Width is no more than 80 characters or glyphs (40 if CJK).

最大値だけでなく，最小値も問題になる．
日本語組版では，縦組では，40字以上でも読める．

>- Text is not justified (aligned to both the left and the right margins).

日本語組版では，慣れにもよるが，not justifiedは読みにくいという意見もある．

ただし，日本語組版でも，単語または文節単位で2行にわたる分割を行う場合は，not justifiedが選択されよう．

>- Line spacing (leading) is at least space-and-a-half within paragraphs, and 
>paragraph spacing is at least 1.5 times larger than the line spacing.

Line spacing (leading) は，日本語組版でいう行間か？（以下，行間として説明）

ラテン文字の場合，ミーンラインの位置により最適値は変わるのではないか．

日本語組版は二分行間は最低値，1行の字数にもよるが二分では狭すぎる場合も多い（日本語とラテン文字では，行間の考え方が異なる）．

paragraph spacing （段落間のアキ）は，日本語組版，特に長文では，必ずしも読みやすさにつながらない．また，justifiedの場合，段落間のアキは，段落の先頭行のインデントを行えば，なくてもよい（段落内の行間と同じでよい）．

なお，一般的にいえば，段落間のアキは，行間にもよる．

>- Text can be resized without assistive technology up to 200 percent in a way 
>that does not require the user to scroll horizontally to read a line of text 
>on a full-screen window.
