Then, not only machine translation could take advantage of them to improve results, but the browser could expose a UI similar to the language pickers many multi-lingual websites have. This wouldn't just make website i18n easier for authors, but it would also make multi-lingual websites easier for web users. Not sure if I should make a new bug for this.
