http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=13414 Summary: i18n-ISSUE-79: Multilingual q quote rendering Product: HTML WG Version: unspecified Platform: PC OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: HTML5 spec (editor: Ian Hickson) AssignedTo: ian@hixie.ch ReportedBy: public-i18n-core@w3.org QAContact: public-html-bugzilla@w3.org CC: mike@w3.org, public-html-wg-issue-tracking@w3.org, public-html@w3.org 4.6.7 The q element http://www.w3.org/TR/html5/text-level-semantics.html#the-q-element On behalf of the i18n WG. We think it would probably be useful to add a note to this section to remind readers that users can set the quotation marks differently for content in a particular language using the quotes property in CSS. It would also be useful to provide a non-English example (there is one in the CSS spec for Norwegian). Btw, any description of language-dependent styling should mention that the shape of the quotes around the q element depends on the language outside the q element, not the language inside it.
