I18N-ISSUE-273: Vertical text requirements [klreq] http://www.w3.org/International/track/issues/273 Raised by: Richard Ishida On product: klreq Reported by: Nat McCully When I wrote the mojikumi engine in InDesign, and we did some research into what Korean required, we found several things: ... 4) Vertical text being so prominent in the spec is a bit odd to me, given almost no examples in modern publishing that I have seen, at least. Interesting, though -- I liked looking through the vertical newspaper examples for similarities with Japanese typographic practices. Most modern text seems to have been infected with Word's Latin-centric approach. This is why I would really like experts to weigh in on what we should make the software do, rather than simply follow our bad first attempts!
