Re: [elreq] What is a good Amharic font that can be used on Iterm? (#136)

Hi @kirubeltadesse ,

Thank you for the reminder. The project to develop a monospaced font that I mentioned is progressing, but the core work is now targeted for the month of August. Perhaps a testable font will be available sometime in September -I will inform you and @Eazash then to participate as testers 😃

The original topic in this issue was raised in concern for the absence of a monospaced (fixed-width) font suitable for operating system terminals. The Ethiopic Layout Requirements effort has as its primary goal addressing shortcomings in digital publishing for Ethiopic. The missing typeface style is an issue that just so happens to intersect the visual quality of both user experiences. Have you found that in developing web content, user interfaces, or other document production that a missing monospaced font has been an obstacle? Can you reference materials online that are formatted (or should be formatted) in a monospaced layout but the missing Ethiopic font impacts the presentation negatively?

I have added the following note to a draft of the gap-analysis page as @xfq suggested; does it appear to correctly express the issue with respect to digital publishing? I'm assuming the primary use-case will be for presenting computer code fragments with Ethiopic text, possibly also for some poetry cases. Are there others?

`Missing from Ethiopic font libraries is a typeface suitable for monospaced presentation. All modern scalable fonts have been designed under the variable-width style. This absence impacts the presentation quality of text under markup tags such as <code>, <kbd>, <pre>, <samp> and <var>. While monospaced layout is exceedingly rare in legacy Ethiopic publishing, the need has been expressed for a monospaced font for presentation of Ethiopic text appearing in computer code samples.`

@xfq , I have added this note in a new branch, I was unsure how best to place it in the document body since the gap-analysis page gets generated through some automation process that I am not familiar with.
