Re: [i18n-discuss] Text appearance, accessibility, and internationalization (#46)

hi @wareid, these questions have arisen before, so you may find some useful information already at https://github.com/w3c/i18n-activity/issues?q=+label%3Awg%3Aag+ (particularly on the second/last page).

It may help to understand characteristics of other scripts by checking for resources pointed to from the Language Enablement Index at https://www.w3.org/TR/typography/.

It may possibly also be helpful to check out https://r12a.github.io/scripts/script-features/index.html — for example, you can sort the columns to identify scripts that don't use spaces between words, scripts that line-break in a particular way, etc. Use the chain-like link near the left side of the table to get more details about that script.

My vague recollection from previous discussions was that the WAI folks would be trying to identify local people for key script types. Such people would be able to provide much better feedback, including things like readability information. (If you need a way to raise and capture such information, we could consider using our Language Enablement Framework, which is set up to allow community experts to come together to answer questions about and discuss issues for a given set of languages/scripts — see https://www.w3.org/International/i18n-drafts/nav/languagedev)

Hope that helps a little.
