Sorry for the confusion; I'm discussing about whether the range of hydra:supportedProperty should be hydra:SupportedProperty, rdf:Property, or the union of both. What you say about owl:DatatypeProperty is correct; but orthogonal to this discussion, since both properties expect IRIs as object. It might however be relevant to the other thread [1] in which we are talking about putting parameters into an IRI template. In those cases, it could help to know the range of the property.
