Michael, All, Hello. 1. I joined this group as it is AI-related and as human-centricity makes sense to me. 2. I'm looking forward to any discussions about human-centric AI. 3. I look forward to contributing to discussions as possible. 4. I don't know. About me: I am also interested in AI and education, better equipping students, educators, and administrators at scale, and in adaptive instructional systems, e.g., intelligent tutoring systems. I also find AI and narratology to be interesting and AI and computer-aided design and engineering (e.g., visuospatial comprehension and applied creative imagination). With respect to AI and narratology, I am recently thinking about how best to go about processing vast collections of stories into data resources for AI systems, e.g., towards these systems better being able to comprehend and predict stories. With respect to AI and computer-aided design and engineering, I am recently thinking about enhancing the accessibility of charts and diagrams in Web browsers. One approach to providing accessible charts and diagrams involves that knowledge graphs describing them could accompany any captured visual contents sent to interoperating AI assistants. This would enhance man-machine Q&A and dialogue about charts and diagrams and dialogue-based interactions with them. Techniques for making charts and diagrams accessible via AI assistants could generalize or scale to enabling AI assistants for computer-aided design and engineering. Today, people can engage in man-machine dialogue to create and edit images and, in the not-too-distant-future, people could use AI assistants to design and engineer intricate 3D models and schematics. We need your help and engagement. Looking forward to reading your responses to the questions below. - Michael On Sep 6, 2024, at 12:12 PM, Michael Robbins <michael@learningpathmakers.org> wrote: 🌍🤖 Let’s Shape the Future Together 🚀 Hello everyone, I’m Michael Robbins, and I’m pleased to be the new chair of the Human-Centric AI Community Group with the W3C. My journey in technology and education has been centered around creating meaningful connections between humans and digital systems. For the past three decades, I’ve been deeply involved in integrating technology into human learning networks. Now it's crucial to refocus our efforts on putting humans at the center of AI. I’m particularly passionate about building learning ecosystems of AI agents that humans control, and creating a new digital public commons for them with SPACE for everyone (Safety, Privacy, Autonomy, Collaboration, and Efficacy). This is the human-centric alternative to so-called Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). I'd love to hear more from all of you to shape our discussions and activities moving forward. To that end, I'd like to pose a few questions: 1. Why did you join this group? What drew you to this community, and what interests you most about human-centric AI? 2. What do you hope to get out of this group? Are there specific goals or outcomes you're aiming for, whether they're personal, professional, or broader in nature? 3. What do you hope to contribute? Do you have any particular skills, experiences, or perspectives you're excited to share? What role do you see yourself playing within the group? 4. What would you like to see the group do? Are there specific projects, discussions, or initiatives you believe we should prioritize? Feel free to share your thoughts on any or all of these questions, or anything else you'd like us to consider. This is a space for open dialogue, and all perspectives are welcome. We have a ton of expertise to tap into but let’s keep things top-level and not get into particular technical solutions yet. Thank you, and I'm looking forward to our collaboration!
