Re: Jan 8: Reps for Digital Civilization

I am strongly of the view, that the term 'personhood', has historically had
the definition of defining how an entity - natural or otherwise - has
agency, in relation to law and society.

for example - a person who is not of sound mind, lacks the ability to be
properly heard in a court of law, and therefore requires support by another
which therefore is a limitation to their personhood - similarly also,
children - guardianships.

in some jurisdictions, it was decided that companies should have their own
independent personhood - corporate personhood - as is illustrated by
chomsky in various places, and, i've seen work on seeking to provide
software personhood, whether it be DAOs or AI or whatever - i'm not sure
anyone really knows - seems the objective is to just, let the robots kill
people and make them legally responsible.

so - whilst i accept the direction sought to be taken by the group, as a
determination of the group, the work i've seen on redefining personhood
-in all too many ways - i think, well, worry.

that the trend may well continue. lets ensure they're known to all
impacted. as is an important part of their personhood. i don't think that
happened enough, re: covid. or, perhaps not yet.
