Good question. This (HTML 5.1) spec includes everything you need to know without reading any prior HTML specifications (it's all-in-one). Each new version (e.g., HTML 5.2 coming up) will replace the previous version and include all you need to know in it as well. For CSS, they issue a yearly snapshot that links to all the specs that you might want to read to get the full picture of what is CSS at any given year: http://www.w3.org/TR/CSS/ -----Original Message----- From: yaacov.mhm770.ep@gmail.com [mailto:yaacov.mhm770.ep@gmail.com] Sent: Saturday, February 18, 2017 7:34 AM To: public-html@w3.org Subject: Html5 specification Hello, I have a question about HTML5 specification, Is this (mandatory ? | important ? | necessary ? ) to read all (or a part of) the previous HTML specifications (HTML 4.01, XHTML 1.1, ...) before to read (this) HTML5 specification OR not and is this possible to read (this) HTML5 specification directly without to read first all (or a part of) the previous HTML SPECIFICATIONS (HTML 4.01, XHTML 1.1, ...) ? And the same thing about the CSS3 specification, Is this (mandatory ? | important ? | necessary ? ) to read all (or a part of) the previous CSS specifications (CSS1, CSS2) before to read (this) CSS3 specification OR not and is this possible to read (this) CSS3 specification directly without to read first all (or a part of) the previous CSS SPECIFICATIONS (CSS1, CSS2) ? Thank you for advance for your answer .
