RE: HTML5 CR "at risk" features

When bug 24812 was created it initially only dealt with the CR "at risk" features listed in the HTML 5.0 CR specification. As a result of this week's F2F meeting the list of candidate features to be removed has expanded from the original list of CR "at risk" features and these additional items will be added in due time to the list in Bug 24812. Note also that some of the original CR "as risk" features will NOT be removed e.g. AppCache.

Note that the WG always anticipated that we might have such additional features removals which is why "plan 2014" [1] always planned for one additional Last Call for HTML 5.0.

During the F2F DataCue was characterized as having no implementation or tests. There is now one implementation http://trac.webkit.org/changeset/167025. CableLabs will submit tests for DataCue to W3C. I am working to get the details of what I understand is a second implementation, which I will forward.

BTW, DataCue is not listed in Bug 24812<https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=24812>.

The HTML WG F2F meeting reviewed the HTML 5.0 CR [1] "at risk" features in preparation of publishing an HTML 5.0 heartbeat publication and eventually a Last Call with some material removed from the HTML 5.0 specification. This email is an attempt to summarize the recommendations of the F2F meeting. The definitive description of the discussions and recommendations is in the F2F minutes [2-3].

Bug 24812 was previously opened to cover the CR "at risk" features which were identified in the original HTML5 CR publication [1]:
https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=24812
This bug will eventually be updated with the recommendations of the meeting so that we have a definitive record of the results of the discussions and so that HTML WG members not at the F2F meeting can register their support or dissent on the recommended removals.

First I will provide a summary of the HTML5 CR [1] "at risk" features and how the F2F meeting dealt with them. Note that the features that are removed from HTML 5.0 will be retained in HTML 5.1.
