Since it is no longer the 11th to 13th centuries, it is pretty clear that meaning (2) of http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/crusade#Noun applies. It is also clear to me from your prior comments that you believe that "protecting the open web [from] DRM" is a cause worth pursuing. I don't object to your desire to pursue a cause of this sort, I'm just saying this is not the forum for doing so.
