http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=13224 Summary: Feedback on: "4.5.1 The p element" Product: HTML WG Version: unspecified Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: HTML5 spec (editor: Ian Hickson) AssignedTo: ian@hixie.ch ReportedBy: Sigurdhsson@gmail.com QAContact: public-html-bugzilla@w3.org CC: mike@w3.org, public-html-wg-issue-tracking@w3.org, public-html@w3.org It is unclear wether paragraphs are allowed inside other paragraphs. As per the HTML 4.01 spec, this is disallowed, which is what many expect, but in this section no rules regarding nesting are specified (apart from p both being flow content and allowed to contain flow content). If the intention is that p elements should be allowed to nest, this should be stated explicitly as it differs from HTML 4.01 behaviour, and if that is not the case, it should also be stated explicitly to avoid confusion. See e.g. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6666137/why-is-firebug-auto-inserting-p/ for an example of the confusion that ensues. -- Configure bugmail: http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
