Here are some editorial comments on the Status section: 1. Intro sentence " This document is the 5 February 2010 Editor's Draft of HTML: The Markup Language." I suggest you change this to: "This is the first public working draft of "HTML: The Markup Language". 2. Last paragraph "The existence of this document as an Editor's Draft does not imply endorsement by the W3C Membership. This is a draft document and may be updated, replaced or obsoleted by other documents at any time. It is inappropriate to cite this document as other than work in progress I suggest you change "Editor's Draft" to "Working Draft". 3. Missing Patent Policy paragraph Shouldn't the usual Patent Policy paragraph be included: "This document was produced by a group operating under the 5 February 2004 W3C Patent Policy. W3C maintains a public list of any patent disclosures made in connection with the deliverables of the group; that page also includes instructions for disclosing a patent. An individual who has actual knowledge of a patent which the individual believes contains Essential Claim(s) must disclose the information in accordance with section 6 of the W3C Patent Policy." 4. References in Status section "This non-normative document is intended to complement the normative conformance criteria defined in the specification HTML5: A vocabulary and associated APIs for HTML and XHTML, and is similar in scope to the HTML5 (Author Edition) subset of that specification." First I was trying to figure out the status of the [HTML5 (Author Edition)] document. Is it actually a W3C published WD? Second I recommend that the references in this paragraph be added to the References section. /paulc Paul Cotton, Microsoft Canada 17 Eleanor Drive, Ottawa, Ontario K2E 6A3 Tel: (425) 705-9596 Fax: (425) 936-7329 -----Original Message----- From: public-html-request@w3.org [mailto:public-html-request@w3.org] On Behalf Of Michael(tm) Smith Sent: Monday, February 01, 2010 11:48 AM To: public-html@w3.org Subject: H:TML draft for FPWD consideration This is request to the working group to consider the following document for publication as a First Public Working Draft: HTML: The Markup Language http://dev.w3.org/html5/markup/ This request completes action-168. -- Michael(tm) Smith http://people.w3.org/mike/
