                    maps
           Product: HTML WG
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: All
               URL: http://dev.w3.org/html5/spec/the-map-element#image-map
                    s
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P3
Component: HTML5 spec (editor: Ian Hickson)
        AssignedTo: ian@hixie.ch
        ReportedBy: xn--mlform-iua@xn--mlform-iua.no

The example ins section "4.8.13 Image maps" demonstrates how to create image
maps that only contain area elements.

Please also add another example showing how to combine <area> elemetns and <a>
elements. As starting point, you can take what you discussed in the WHATWG when
you removed @shape/@coords from the anchor elements

http://lists.whatwg.org/htdig.cgi/whatwg-whatwg.org/2005-April/003514.html

Please also take into consideration the issue I took up in bug 7076
