Sorry, facetious earlier answer.

What Laura is asking for isn't to return longdesc. She's provided a well
documented use case and associated requirements for a specific functionality.
You keep saying, "This is longdesc. We decided against longdesc." She's not
asking for longdesc, she's asking for a specific functionality.

Do you see this functionality implemented in HTML5? If so, perhaps you could
point this out.
