http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=8522 Summary: Authoring Tool editing mechanisms Product: HTML WG Version: unspecified Platform: PC OS/Version: Windows XP Status: NEW Keywords: a11y Severity: normal Priority: P3 Component: HTML5 spec bugs AssignedTo: dave.null@w3.org ReportedBy: jeanne@w3.org QAContact: public-html-bugzilla@w3.org CC: ian@hixie.ch, mike@w3.org, public-html@w3.org, public- html-a11y@w3.org HTML5 says (in the section "Authoring tools and markup generators"): "Authoring tools are expected to come in two broad varieties: tools that work from structure or semantic data, and tools that work on a What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get media-specific editing basis (WYSIWYG). The former is the preferred mechanism for tools that author HTML, since the structure in the source information can be used to make informed choices regarding which HTML elements and attributes are most appropriate." AUWG Comment: It seems subjective to prefer an editing mechanism. Perhaps this should be clearly marked as "informative". -- Configure bugmail: http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the QA contact for the bug.
