Summary: content sniffing should be allowed on link elements with
a relationship type of icon
Product: HTML WG
Version: unspecified
Platform: All
URL: http://www.w3.org/TR/html5/structured.html#icon3
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: Spec proposals
AssignedTo: dave.null@w3.org
ReportedBy: soypunk@gmail.com
QAContact: public-html-bugzilla@w3.org
CC: ian@hixie.ch, mike@w3.org, public-html@w3.org
The treatment of resources sourced from <link rel=icon> should probably same as
though from an <img> element: http://www.w3.org/TR/html5/embedded0.html#the-img
Philip Taylor did a bit of research on existing usage of content-types with
favicons and found enough inconsistencies to warrant further study:
