> There has been absolutely no progress of EME regarding the Formal Objection. I doubt that the authors intend to resolve the raised issue. Your Formal Objection [1] contains two points: a) the EFF objection on whether the matter was in scope which has been dealt with by the Director, and b) EME does not allow independent implementation, excluding open source implementations https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=20967 Your objection [1] acknowledged has been marked as a duplicate of: EME should do more to encourage/ensure CDM-level Interop https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=20944 The candidate EME heartbeat WD highlights that Bug 20944 is still unresolved with a specific reference to in the Status section of the WD [2]: Note: It is an open issue whether and how the spec should do more to encourage/ensure CDM-level interop. See Bug 20944. You can draw whatever conclusion you want on the progress of Bug 20944 but I do believe the Media TF has been trying to deal with this bug over the summer. There have been over 15 posts by Media TF members to bug 20944 since late July and I hardly believe that can be taken as an indication of lack of work on the bug. The Media TF does agree that bug 20944 is still not fully resolved and we will continue to work on it. If you want to assist in this you could make a concrete proposal for text to be added to the EME document that you think will resolve the bug. /paulc HTML WG co-chair [1] http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html-admin/2013May/0138.html [2] https://dvcs.w3.org/hg/html-media/raw-file/tip/encrypted-media/encrypted-media-wd.html Paul Cotton, Microsoft Canada 17 Eleanor Drive, Ottawa, Ontario K2E 6A3 Tel: (425) 705-9596 Fax: (425) 936-7329 -----Original Message----- From: Andreas Kuckartz [mailto:a.kuckartz@ping.de] Sent: Thursday, October 03, 2013 4:36 PM To: public-html-admin@w3.org Cc: Paul Cotton Subject: Re: WG Decision to publish a “Encrypted Media Extensions" heartbeat Working Draft Paul Cotton: > The Chairs note that there is one outstanding Formal Objection on the > EME specification [3-4].
