For the working groups consideration: This specification [1] is an extension to the HTML5 specification. It defines an element to be used for the identification of single or multiple subheadings, subtitles, taglines or bylines. It also makes the hgroup element obsolete and non conforming. All normative content in the HTML5 specification, unless specifically overridden by this specification, is intended to be the basis for this specification. A document [2] detailing why the subline element has been defined and why the hgroup element has been obsoleted is also available.
