48-Hour Consensus Call: Updated Issue-204 Change Proposal

Colleagues:

The Issue-204 Change Proposal supported by the HTML-A11Y Task Force on
26 April last was modified slightly, but significantly during the
recently concluded HTML-WG Face to Face meetings in Mountain View,
California. There are two substantive changes:

1.)	RFC2119 language restricting how user agents might develop in
the future has been removed.

2.)	RFC2119 language advising that authors should not rely on the
techniques discussed in this proposal without good reason has been
included.

The updated proposal is available at:
http://www.w3.org/html/wg/wiki/Correct_Hidden_Attribute_Section_v3

On 8 May the Task Force's Text Subteam agreed on support for this
updated proposal during its regular weekly teleconference:
http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html-a11y/2012May/0043.html .

On 9 May the WAI Protocols and Formats Working Group also resolved its
support of this Change Proposal during its weekly teleconference:
https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/w3c-wai-pf/2012AprJun/0088.html .

On 10 May next the HTML-A11Y Task Force teleconference meeting will
consider consensus support of this updated Issue-204 Change Proposal

As usual, if there is objection in the Task Force to such a consensus
position, please respond by replying to this message no later than close
of business, Boston Time, on Friday 11 May.
