From GRDDL spec: we reference: http://www.w3.org/TR/2001/REC-xhtml-modularization-20010410/ While this has no reference to SVG (either informative or normative), we read: http://www.w3.org/TR/2001/REC-xhtml-modularization-20010410/introduction.html#s_intro_validation [[ However, the modularization framework allows multiple document type definitions to be integrated and form a new document type (e.g. SVG integrated into XHTML). The new document type definition can be used for normal XML 1.0 validation. ]] Also relevant: http://www.w3.org/TR/XHTMLplusMathMLplusSVG/ a WD which seems to have not been developed further. I am not familiar with why. It is an option supported by: http://validator.w3.org/detailed.html I think I will try some tests with browsers.
