W3C GLD WG Thur 31-May-2012

Greetings GLD'ers,

We have an exceptional guest speaker named John Barker from Wolters Kluwer scheduled for our 60 minute GLD-WG telecon planned for this Thursday 31-May-2012 15:00-16:00 UTC (10:00-11:00 Boston, 7:00-8:00 San Francisco, 15:00-16:00 London, 16:00-17:00 Paris). Please see [2] for call-in info and agenda.

Per our decision to alternate the focus of each week's telecon and dig deeper on 1-2 topics, we're focusing on 5-star Linked Data for tax, legal & regulatory publishing. John is a VP in Wolters Kluwer's Global Platform Organization. He has an extensive background in publishing and has been a long time proponent of semantic technologies starting in 2001. John's bio is here [a]. He wrote a blogpost last November on 5-star Linked Data for tax, legal & regulatory publishers [b]. He is planning to share his industry perspective on how Linked Data impacts the global publishing industry & why it matters.

Chair: Bernadette;
Scribe: Mike Pendleton, Alternate: Richard Cyganiak
Regrets: Yigal Arens (meeting conflict), Benedikt Kämpgen (ESWC conference), Luis Bermudez (travel/conference), Dan Gillman (travel) Phil Archer (conference)

Also - the upcoming SemTech GLD WG talk titled: "Progress Report on Publication of Government Linked Data Worldwide" is still a work in progress and I'll notify everyone when it is posted so you can offer feedback. Apologies for the delay... my life is running one week behind at the moment.

Please note the following weekly telecons have been cancelled due to travel/conferences:
07-June-2012

Looking forward to speaking with you all Thursday.

Cheers,
Bernadette, George & Sandro
