We do not yet know the exact ways in which Google and the other sponsors of schema.org are using automotive data for their purposes, but it is very important to know that there is no simple mapping from pieces of markup to certain effects in the rendering or ranking of SERPs.

Google et al. use schema.org markup in a myriad of ways, including population of the Google Knowledge Graph and relevance ranking.

(GoodRelations is the original project that contributed the e-commerce model to schema.org).

Attached are a few examples of data-driven features in Google for the automotive industry, which will likely benefit from the new schema.org elements.

a) Price Snippets

b) Factual Answers and Knowledge Graph Infobox with car features

c) Detailed car model features

d) price and availability snippets

e) Multiple configurations in the infobox results
