The CSS mailing list has very high traffic, and I don't think I'm alone in saying I don't have time to monitor it for these common issues; by contrast, public-fx is rather low-traffic, and anyone interested can join this list. While I respect the preferences of the spec editors with regards to their workflow, coordination on these issues is vitally important. A lack of communication on the part of both groups lead to incompatibilities or misunderstandings in the past, and the risk of reverting to that is too high.
