Integration test between XBRL and XForms

Hello,

 

I’m evaluating using the XForms 1.0 specification as a technology to
generate XBRL instance documents.

 

The first thing I’ve created is a sample XForms form that contains:

A xf:model node with a valid XBRL instance document

A set of xf:input fields

A submit button.

 

The idea was to start looking at how current implementations of the XForms
1.0 spec are able to:

1)      Generate XBRL (nothing else than an XML document)

2)      Handle the GUI related issues

3)      With lower priority: automatically generate validation rules from
the XBRL Taxonomy to the generated form, better handling of data types,
dynamic creation of XBRL Contexts, XBRL Units, etc…

generated by a tool that understands XBRL so it can access to the right
label and more metadata that is already stored in the XBRL Taxonomy.

 

But the UI of the result is not very satisfactory and I don’t see there is
too much control over it in the XForms spec.

I would like to find a way to generate more decent look and feel or I should
fall back to keep using old XHTML forms.

 

What do you recommend?
